Prof. MUDr. Marek Babjuk

Prof. MUDr. Marek Babjuk, CSc. was born in 1961 in Prague. He graduated from the Faculty of General Medicine at Charles University, where he graduated in 1986. After graduating from the Faculty of Medicine, he worked at the urology clinic of the General University Hospital in Prague, initially as a secondary doctor and since 1993 as head of the department. Attestation exam I. and II. He passed his degree in urology in 1988 and 1992, and an attestation exam in clinical oncology in 1997.

On July 1, 2003, he was appointed Rector of Charles University in Prague as an Associate Professor of Urology. The topic of his habilitation thesis was “Modern non-invasive and endoscopic diagnosis of bladder tumors”.

He was appointed Professor of Urology by the President of the Republic on March 2, 2009.

Since 2011 he has been the chairman of the Czech Urological Society of the Czech Medical Association JEP.

Since October 1, 2009, he has been working as the head of the urology clinic at the Motol University Hospital and the 2nd Faculty of Medicine at Charles University.

In his practice, Professor Babjuk focuses mainly on the diagnosis and treatment of cancer in urology. The subject of his interest is surgical procedures for urological tumors, he also pays attention to the diagnosis of cancer, including the introduction of new methods and technologies. Since 2007, he has been the chairman of the group for the development of guidelines for bladder tumors of the European Urological Society.

He completed several study stays abroad. In 1990 he worked for a year at the urological clinic in Wuppertal and in 1999 for four months at the urological clinic Klinikum Grosshadern in Munich. In addition, he visited a number of leading clinics in Europe and the USA during short visits.

During his career so far, he has published more than 100 articles in professional journals, of which over 30 are abroad. His works have been cited in more than 150 professional publications. He is the author or co-author of 7 monographs on urological topics. He participated in the implementation of 13 grant projects.

Professor Babjuk is a member of the editorial boards of a number of prestigious foreign and domestic scientific journals, such as European Urology, World Journal of Urology, International Urology, Central European Journal of Urology, Prague Medical Report and Czech Urology.

Since 2009 a member of the Scientific Board of the Czech Medical Chamber. He is a member of the European Urological Society (EAU), the American Urological Society and the World Urological Society (SIU)

. Babjuk is the chairman of the Commission for the Development of Recommended Practices for Bladder Tumors of the European Society of Urology (EAU) and a member of the Education Committee of the European Urological Society (EAU).
