MUDr. Zdeněk Otava studied general medicine at the 1st Medical Faculty of Charles University in Prague. He graduated in 2001 with a study average of 1.2. He passed all state exams with excellent results. In 1993/1994, he completed semester studies at Millbrool High School in Raleigh, NC in the USA with a focus on anatomy and physiology. In 2004 he passed the first-degree attestation in the field of urology, in 2009 he acquired full specialized competence in this field. During his studies of medicine in his free time, he attended III. Department of Surgery, 1st Faculty of Medicine, Charles University and University Hospital Motol and the Department of Facial, Maxillofacial and Plastic Surgery of the Central Military Hospital in Prague. In the years 2001-2006 he worked as a secondary at the Urology Department of the Central Military Hospital in Prague, since 2006 at the Department of Urology, University Hospital Královské Vinohrady. In the years 2011-2013 he also worked as an assistant professor at III. Faculty of Medicine, Charles University. Since 2013, he has been performing urological practice at the Budějovická polyclinic within Medicon as
During his practice, he published several professional papers and participated in some research projects. He works as a lecturer in the postgraduate education of doctors in sonography. He regularly participates in professional events in the Czech Republic and abroad.
His main focus and areas of interest include endoscopic surgery, sonography, neurourology. Performs a complete range of endoscopic procedures on the lower and upper urinary tract using modern procedures and techniques. for patients with multiple sclerosis, wheelchair users and patients with other neurological diseases. He has years of experience in urodynamic examinations and treatment of neurogenic bladder disorders, including endoscopic application of botulinum toxin to the bladder wall in indicated cases. He has been cooperating with several centers for the diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis for many years.

– Flexo 400 sonograph with color doppler, power angio doppler and harmonic imaging, abdominal probe, “small parts” linear probe for perfect imaging of testes and other soft tissues, biplanar rectal probe for prostate imaging in two planes and painless prostate biopsy
-rigid and flexible endoscopes for painless endoscopic examination of the urinary tract, stent extraction, biopsies, etc.
-urodynamic device equipped with equipment for pelvic floor electromyography with the possibility of using “biofeedback” to practice the correct technique of strengthening the pelvic floor

Scope of care:
We provide diagnosis and treatment of all urological, neurolurological and urological-oncological diseases, urinary stones. We perform diagnostics, including sonography, endoscopy, prostate biopsy, which we perform on an outpatient basis, at the patient’s request, by a painless technique using a biplanar rectal probe and seductive anesthesia. We provide timely diagnostics by imaging methods (X-ray, CT, MR, PET), laboratory tests, production of autovaccines. At the request of the patient and in indicated cases, we also mediate or provide examinations by some modern, health insurance companies not yet reimbursed methods (PCA3, Histoscaning, Multiparametric MRI). Thanks to the connection to the leading Prague urological clinics (FNKV, Thomayer Hospital, Na Homolce Hospital), in indicated cases, we perform operations ourselves or provide them at these workplaces.
